Le Zénith de Gainsbourg

Le Zénith de Gainsbourg Review

by Chris True

There aren't many other French singer/songwriters out there who can hold a candle to the legend that is...Gainsbourg. The late legend looms large in the French cultural vocabulary, and modern Francophone pop wouldn't be the same without him. For those looking to understand why, this collection, released in 1989 (and again in 2001), is a good place to start. Sort of. It lacks the hits that he was known for, but captures -- in a live setting -- the attitude and panache that made him a true star.
