Boby Timmons: Soul Piano

Bobby Timmons came out of Philadelphia at age 19, with a funky gospel tinged piano style, flavored with blues and hard bop. He would, in a recording career that would only span a short time frame, contribute to some of the best recordings on the legendary Blue Note sessions of the ’50’s , and be a member of two of the premier bands of that time, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, and the Cannonball Adderley Quintet.
Robert Henry Timmons was born in Philadelphia in 1935, raised by his grandfather who was a minister in a church.

Bobby Timmons was a fantastic piano player and a legendary composer. He always brought a lot of soul to his playing and music. Bobby Timmons was part of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and Cannonball Adderley’s group. His compositions “Dat Dere”, “Moanin”, and “This Here” have become jazz classics. Soul Piano is a perfect adjective to describe Bobby Timmons’ music.   Tracklist 00:00 - Moanin' 05:05 - Dat Dere 10:27 - Soul Time 16:46 - Autumn Leaves 24:29 - Easy Does It 29:21 - Lush Life 31:46 - The Touch of Your Lips 35:57 - Old Devil Moon 40:34 - This Here 44:02 - Bobby Timmons, John Jenkins & Clifford Jordan - Tenderly 51:06 - Alone Together 57:05 - Come Rain or Come Shine 01:01:35 - So Tired 01:07:48 - Prelude to a Kiss 01:11:08 - Pretty Memory 01:14:35 - My Funny Valentine Brought to you by The Wnts Jazz Education Program
