Saxophonist Maarten Hogenhuis is a much-seen artist in the Dutch jazz scene. He is known for his ability to create outspoken, catchy music with few resources. In 2019 he was asked for the prestigious North Sea Jazz Composition Commission, for which he expanded his regular trio with a number of guest musicians. This concert builds on this formula. In addition to his regular rhythm section, trumpet player Ian Cleaver and guitarist Jesse van Ruller also appear. They play new compositions and a selection of lesser known standards from the American Songbook.
