Keith Jarrett Quartet | Frankfurt Jazz Festival 1976

This is (supposedly) a Youtube premier, Keith Jarrett's full concert from 1976. The source is a TV on-air recording of a performance at the Frankfurt Jazz Fest, September 18, 1976 with the European Quartet. The first song is Keith's solo! This solo is fantastic. As you know, this is the same song as the Sun Bear concert Kyoto that we would later record.
This performance is more in the groove than the Kyoto performance. A perfect solo, a romantic development from the groove at the beginning to running around on the lake in the middle of the piece, with a great composition and great time, leaving no room for the other members to come in. The sound quality of the piano is really excellent. The piano is resonant. Then the second song, Jan Garbarek 's play comes in, and you can feel the tension from the way he seems to be afraid of it at first. The following is the usual European quartet, but Keith's piano performance is still great. It seems to be in better shape on this day. The recording is great and raw on the piano. The fourth song is an up-tempo piece, but again, Keith really lets it fly on the piano, and the fifth song is beautifully played by Jan Garbarek, and combined with Keith's lyrical piano, it is the best of the quartet. The sixth track, which begins with Danielsen's groovy bass solo, is also strong, and the seventh track, "My Song," is already complete. And lastly, Keith's signature gospel touch on the piano will be used to play that famous song. Please enjoy the show.
