Two night of fresh encounters: Maryana Golovchenko/Simone Bottasso, Jorrit Westerhof/Oscar Jan Hoogland, Martin Fondse/Romain Bly & Anton Goudsmit/Louk Boudesteijn
16 musicians, 2 nights, 8 duos. The wonderful feeling of spring is something we always want to bring to our stage. That’s why we proudly present some really promising newly-formed duo’s. From rising stars to internationally renowned artists and from improv veterans to unique outsiders, they will join forces to challenge themselves and their audience with new sounds.
BIMHUIS TV Presents Spring Duets day 1
The first night will feature the following duos:
Maryana Golovchenko & Simone Bottasso – vocals & accordeon
Ukranian vocalist Maryana Golovchenko lives in The Netherlands since 2011, and has already worked with Oene van Geel, Sanne Rambags and Spinvis. Her focus lies on traidtion Ukranian and East-European folk music she grew up with. Simone Bottasso is a versatile accordeonist. He combines his love for Occitan and French folk music with contemporary and electronic compositions.
Jorrit Westerhof & Oscar Jan Hoogland – guitar & piano/electric clavichord
An explosive combination. Multi-intrumentalist and student of Misha Mengelberg Oscar Jan Hoogland is protagonist of the Amsterdam Impro-scene and leader of a new generation of improvisers. Jorrit Westerhof is a bold guitar player who varies explosive live improvisation with thoughtful sounds to create different atmospheres.
Martin Fondse & Romain Bly – piano/vibrandoneon & Franse horn/trumpet
Jazzpianist Martin Fondse is a renowned pianist and composer, with multiple prize-winning albums. Recently he was named ‘Componist des Vaderlands’, and in 2017 he already the prestigious Boy Edgar Prize. Romain Bly is a French horn/trumpet player, currently living in Rotterdam. He made name in the French Chamber music scene on horn, and the pop/reggae/funk-scene on trompet.
Anton Goudsmit & Louk Boudesteijn – guitar & trombone
Amsterdam-based guitar player and composer Anton Goudsmit is a tornado of creativity, able to fascinate his audience with his strong groove and unique musical personality. He is a member of the New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, together with Louk Boudesteijn. He is one of the most versatile trombonists in our country. Metropole Orchestra, Di-rect, you can hear him everywhere. Currently he is working on his newest project called Bonsai panda, together with Jimmi Hueting, Romain Bly (who also perfoms tonight) and David Kweksilber.
