The Blue Note Years, Vol. 2: Jazz Message Review
by Stacia Proefrock
Originally part of the Blue Note 60th Anniversary boxed set, this collection focuses on the early classics that helped shape the Blue Note sound. This cd is the first of four volumes that documents the label's golden era from 1957-67, and it contains some of the best music that the label released, including great tracks from Art Blakey, Sonny Clark, Lee Morgan, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Horace Silver.
