AllMusic Review by Scott Yanow
Although this quartet date is billed as featuring George Jenkins "and His All Stars", only tenor saxophonist Plas Johnson is remembered today. With pianist Ray Johnson and bassist Duke Harris completing the group, Plas is in excellent form on a set of music bridging the gap between swing, early R&B, and the beginnings of rock & roll. The performances are melodic, spirited, and full of feeling, particularly on such numbers as "Caravan," "Cottontail," "Drum Boogie" and "Last Call." This LP reissue is enjoyable, if not too essential.
