Bass superstar Marcus Miller takes jazz to the next level with new album Laid Black, incorporating elements of trap, hip-hop, R&B and gospel into his sound.
In a career stretching back to the 1970s, Miller has worked with a hit list of the past half century of musical movers and shakers, including Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, Dizzy Gillespie and Eric Clapton – and was the producer and collaborator on Miles Davis’ brilliant final albums.
Miller’s powerful, boundary-breaking jazz-funk bass playing, his pursuit of discovering and working with young talent, and his force-of-nature live performances all make him a major inspiration to the next jazz generation. Manchester Jazz Festival
