FRANK FISCHER
Gone With The Wind
1989
Background
A real easy, nice listen here from German musician Frank Fischer, aided by 2 other musicians, bongo player Kristian Vogelberg and the very talented Budi Siebert on saxophones, flutes, and virimbas, with Fischer playing basses, keyboards, and sampled percussion. No additional musicians. I think this was the first time I heard Budi Siebert who has quite a prolific recording career and I have him on quite a few albums as a sideman, co-leader, and leader since. Fischer recorded a nice series of albums (starting with this one) for the IC Music label before they went out of business and this is a good example (my personal favorite) of the music he did during the period 1989-1996. Nothing experimental or avant-garde here, just a nice, mostly mellow enjoyable album from Mr. Fischer, enjoyable particularly to those who enjoy hearing the bass as a melodic instrument.Personnel
