AllMusic Review by Scott Yanow
Two complementary albums are combined on this attractive two-LP set from the mid-'70s. The great guitarist Wes Montgomery meets up with vibraphonist Milt Jackson, pianist Wynton Kelly, bassist Sam Jones and drummer Philly Joe Jones for some soulful and swinging numbers (including two previously unissued performances) and then essentially becomes part of the George Shearing Quintet for 11 other songs. The latter date also has vibraphonist Buddy Montgomery and electric bassist Monk Montgomery joining Shearing, drummer Walter Perkins and two Latin percussionists for some enjoyable if overly polite jamming. This music has since been reissued on CD.
